A plan built around your tax calendar.

Ring Tax wants more business clients and fewer price shoppers. Business owners search on a calendar: January for returns, summer for bookkeeping, September for extensions. Our plan puts your budget in front of them when they look, keeps household searches to a capped share, and counts every call so Google learns which searches become clients.

"I don't wanna waste this nest egg that I have."Cody Ring, Ring Tax, Oct 21
  • Past ads brought price shoppers who wanted "$50 returns, TurboTax pricing."
  • Not one month at 1x return on ad spend on the current program.
  • Some clients agree to the price, then go quiet when the contract goes out.
  • Most new clients call in, so the calls are what need counting.

What a win looks like. At least 1x, then reinvest.

1At least 1x returnUnder 0.9x isn't sustainable. 1x is the goal.
2A budget sized to the seasonAt least $10,000 a month in January, realistically $15,000, then $3,000 to $4,000 in the off-season. Our fee comes out of that.
3More business clientsBusiness returns start in January and are due March 15. That's the window to win them.
"I would like a 1X because no matter what, I always reinvest 50 to 75% back into the marketing machine."Cody Ring, Ring Tax, Oct 21

What We Found

Four things from Google's search data for Polk County, Tampa Bay, Orlando and all of Florida. Open any one for the detail.

Google searches a month, October 2025 to September 2026. Each row is shaded against its own busiest month, marked ▲ PEAK.

See the detail
  • January: "business tax preparation" jumps to its peak, ahead of the March 15 business deadline. About 110 searches in Polk, 590 across Tampa Bay.
  • February: household searches hit 4,560 in Polk, about 30 times their October level. Clicks are cheap, but many are price shoppers.
  • April: "IRS installment plan" spikes to 720 in Polk and 4,400 across Tampa Bay, as people file and see they owe.
  • Groups: business owners are business tax preparation, small business accountant, bookkeeping services and business tax services near me. CPA / accountant is cpa near me and accountant near me. Households are tax preparer near me, taxes near me and tax preparation services. IRS problems are irs installment plan, irs offer to compromise, tax relief and tax resolution. Related searches roughly double each total.

2Polk is a small pool of business owners. The wider you go, the more room the budget has.

Business-owner and CPA searches a month, averaged October 2025 to September 2026. Where you'll take business clients shapes the whole plan.

See the detail
  • In January, Polk's business-owner and CPA searches peak at about 550 a month.
  • At $8 to $12 a click, $8,000 of ad spend buys roughly 670 to 1,000 clicks. That's more clicks than Polk's business owners make in searches.
  • In Polk alone, the rest of an $8,000 month of ad spend would go to household searches, because that's where the volume is. That rebuilds the 70 / 30 mix.
  • Not every search turns into a click. At the $13,000 option, Tampa Bay alone would need up to 3 in 10 January business-owner searches to click. Add Orlando and it's under 2 in 10.
  • Outside your drive area, "near me" searches only count if those clients are happy working by phone and portal. Without them, Florida has about 1,940 business-owner searches a month.
  • The wider the area, the more of the budget can stay on business owners.

3Most clicks cost $8 to $12. Some business searches have almost no ad competition.

Google's estimated top-of-page bid range per click, Polk County unless labeled. We plan on $8 to $12 a click on average.

See the detail
  • Across Tampa Bay, "business tax services near me" (about 210 searches a month), "business tax preparer near me" and "business tax preparation services" (about 90 each) show little or no ad competition. That's an opening.
  • "Tax relief" runs $22 to $96 a click, because national tax-relief firms bid on it everywhere. We'd win IRS cases on local searches instead.
  • At least one national online accounting firm runs a Lakeland page, and the retail chains own household brand searches.
  • Your current account's auction data shows who else bids on your searches. That's one reason to export its history before November 30.

4The off-season isn't quiet for business owners.

January to April average against May to December average. So the off-season budget goes to business owners.

See the detail
  • Across Tampa Bay, "bookkeeping services" peaks again in July, at about 590 searches.
  • "Small business accountant" peaks in July and August.
  • "Business tax services near me" runs about 320 a month around the September 15 and October 15 extension deadlines.
  • IRS searches hold steady all year in Polk, between 140 and 290 a month outside April.

Our Plan

Three phases, set by the tax calendar. Each one earns the next.

Our plan. Count every call, then follow the calendar.

1Count every call and formProper in-account conversion tracking on calls and forms. A simple record of which leads become clients, so Google learns from signed clients, not bookings. Campaigns split by audience: business owners, households, IRS cases and your own name. Your current account's history saved before November 30.Moves on when: calls and forms are counted by campaign.
2Tax season: business owners firstJanuary leads with business-owner searches. From February to April 15, household searches run on a small, capped budget closest to you, with pricing in the ad so price shoppers pass. After April 15, IRS payment-plan searches run as a tight test.Spend steps up only after cost per consultation holds two weeks running.
3Off-season: build the business bookBookkeeping searches, mid-year accountant switches, the September 15 extension rush and local IRS cases. Spend steps down to your off-season budget.Budget follows cost per new business client.

The named plays we run. Hover any one for what it does.

Your take
  • Where will you take business clients: Polk, Tampa Bay, all of Florida, or anywhere?
  • Do clients ever meet you in person, or is it all phone and portal?
  • How many new business clients can you take from January to March?
  • Can you export your current account's history before November 30?
  • When you measure return on ad spend, is it against ad spend or everything you pay?
  • In February, do you want household clients at all?

Not every tax search is a business owner. We sort them four ways.

Business owners

First call on budget
business tax preparationsmall business accountantbookkeeping servicesbusiness tax services near meTheir own campaigns, across the widest area you serve.

Could be either

Tampa Bay, sorted after the click
cpa near meaccountant near meTheir own campaign across Tampa Bay, since "near me" means close by. The ad speaks to business owners, and only business leads count as a win.

Households

Small, capped budget
tax preparer near metax prep servicestaxes near meA fixed budget that never grows past its cap, closest to you, with pricing in the ad so price shoppers pass.

Free and chain searches

Blocked
free tax filingh&r block near mejackson hewitt near meBlocked on every campaign, so none of your budget goes to them.

IRS problems and searches for your own name get their own campaigns too. About 8 in 10 searches for a CPA or business accountant are general ones like "cpa near me," and households type them too. So the sorting carries on after the click.

1The ad says who it's forBusiness owners, S corps and LLCs, named in the headline.
2Your form and calls sort themOne question on the form: business or personal return? Your team tags each call the same way.
3Business leads count firstGoogle learns which searches bring business owners. With offline conversion tracking, it learns from signed clients.
Your take
  • Do you have a starting price for business returns we can put in the ad?
  • Can your team tag each call as business or personal?

What we won't promise

  • A cost per client before calls are counted
  • That Polk alone can take a $10,000 month on business owners
  • Results from ads alone. Follow-up after the price is agreed counts too

What we commit to

  • Calls and forms counted before spend scales
  • Spend moves up only when cost per consultation holds
  • Telling you when the math doesn't work, before you spend on it

Deliberately not in scope

  • Building pages and forms. We recommend, your team builds
  • Local Services Ads. We give recommendations, you run them
  • Connecting your lead record to Google Ads, unless you add offline conversion tracking
  • Meta and LinkedIn, until search has a steady cost per client
